News from Weaponblender

Posted in November 18th, 2008

News

We are proud to announce the opening of Weaponblender REXBURG, Idaho. Located on main street in the heart of Rexburg. The grand opening will be the first week in December. More details to come. Also, new shippments will be arriving throughout the month of November in preparation for the holidays.

Featured Product

The JG G608-5, otherwise known as the G36KE, is the third instalment of JG’s g36 lineup. This new member boasts a carry handle with integrated scope, integrated bipod, and the longest barrel out of the three. The gun hits at just over 400 fps with the same smooth internals we have come to expect from JG. The scope is crystal clear adjustable down to pinpoint accuracy. Needless to say, we are impressed.

Coming Soon

  • Full metal Mp5 series by CYMA (really nice)
  • Clone gas shotguns
  • Type 89 (3rnd burst)

Major’s Maintanence Tip

Springs need love too:
Before putting your AEG away you should remove the magazine from the gun, turn it upside down, and fire three times on semi- auto. This will clear any rounds from the chamber and relieve the tension on the spring, thus increasing the longevity of your spring

OPSEC Radio Slows Production

Posted in November 17th, 2008
by Hunter in News

In a recent change, OPSEC Radio has decided to slow their regular radio/podcast program and take things a bit slower in the future.  Quoted is their official release:

Our downloads are over 100,000 and growing, our page views are soaring daily… no doubt we are at the height of our popularity. We have received more donations this year than we could have dreamed of, pretty much paying our operating costs to date. Our international presence has grown to places that we never even considered when launching the station. On iTunes, we have the #1 airsoft related podcast. We have reached our peak.

The overall consensus is that it’s far better to go out on top rather than on bottom.

Personal Lives

Remember when you were 20 and pretty much only had to go to university and drink? Remember at 23 when you responsibility turned to work and a girlfriend? Finally, remember 30 when you turned into your father?.. House payment, family, career, etc. At each of those phases, your time spent on the airsoft field took a hit. With the OPSEC staff… our “air” time has to take a hit this time. Our careers are taking off, our families are starting to grow and our field time is already at a minimum. Rather than stop playing all together, we need to sacrifice the show.

Content is starting to slip

Of the past few shows, we feel the quality and relevance of the content has been below par for what we would consider a quality program. The Dude has been our life blood for the past year+ and we surely couldn’t have made it this far without him. He is by far one of the most important members of our team, but every member has their limits. Lice and Radar ran out of ideas at our 1st birthday and while Alphawolf has been a god-send in the content department… seems that we are all pretty much tapped and running on fumes.

We are tired!

112 shows… ‘nough said. While we love doing the show, massing the content, promotion, engineering.. it’s exhausting and we’ve been at it for 2+ years now. We need an extended break.

The Future

What happens now?

Web Page/Forums
We won’t be shutting down our webpage or forums. Areas will be updated, reflecting our retired status, but not much will change.

iTunes Library
Our iTunes library will remain active until we see downloads of less than 30 per month. iTunes will keep us listed as long as we want… but why keep the listing if the downloads are next to nothing.

Future Podcasts/Live Shows
On occasion we might fire up the station to release a show on a large op or something along those lines. We are not selling the station gear or saying that we will never broadcast again… we just want to broadcast at our leisure. Yes, we are that selfish.

Where should you go?
I just did a search on iTunes for podcasts about airsoft and found quite a few. Naturally none of the other shows are anything like what you got here, but at the same time, they are informative and should feed your airsoft Frankenstein.

The V2 Fix = Shock Transfer System

Posted in November 16th, 2008
by Hunter in News

Just rel

eased from newcomer AJAX–a new piece of hardware designed to extend the life of your V2 gearbox indefinitely.

Introducing the Ajax Customs Shock Transfer System™ which was developed for Airsoft Rifles by airsofters based in Salt Lake City Utah USA, through many problematic v2 gearboxes which crack in sensitive non braced ar eas has come the Shock Transfer System™ (STS™).

The STS is a device that will prolong the standard V2 gear Box found in, G&G, Classic Army, G&P, A&K, Dboys/boyi virtually every M16/M4 model with a one piece hop up unit and a metal receiver.

By upgrading your V2 with the STS™ you will pro long the life of your upgraded airsoft rifle or your stock airsoft rifle which houses the V2 Gearbox with a one piece hop up unit.

The development process was interesting & worth it. Ajax Customs went through several gearboxes to come up with the right STS™ design. So for those of you who are in need of a component that will save you from having to waste Time & money on replacement gearboxes which will fail again and again. Ajax Customs introduces a new component on the airsoft market today that will prolong your M4 one-piece hop up airsoft rifle known as the Shock Transfer System (STS™).

We have been using the STS™ in airsoft guns used by the US ARMY, Black Ops Elite airsoft team and all of the M16/M4 Upgraded and stock airsoft Rifles tested have been outperforming the M16/M4 without the STS installed internally. Ajax Customs tested the STS™ in Harsh weather conditions ranging from the Scorching Hot Utah Deseret to the Bitter Cold Utah Desert, High elevations above Sea Level as well as in a controlled Freezer environments where the STS™ was installed on a Cracked Gear Box that was frozen and then dry fired for 2 minutes increments with an 11.1 lipo battery as well as other battery configurations without any problems. After opening up the M16/M4 to look for further damage there was none. We are confident after all our research that the STS™ will save your Gearbox and high end Upgrades for a long lasting enjoyable airsoft Experience.

When you buy an STS™ you are making the best decision for your M16/M4 model with a one piece hop up unit and a metal receiver. You are someone who understands that you need to have your Airsoft Rifle fire when you pull the trigger, not melt down on you in the middle of a fire fight. So if you’re tired of wasting your time and Money on replacing the gearbox when it cracks due to poor designs from the manufacturers, then it is time for YOU to invest in the Shock Transfer System™. Do yourself a Favor better yet do your Rifle a favor and install a Shock Transfer System™ in your Gun…. It will thank you! & we thank you!

Non-spherical Projectiles

Posted in November 13th, 2008
by Hunter in News

Chris from the NSP team just sent this in:

My team and I made the first bullet of this project. It was made of wax, and was constructed in the method I outlined in the other thread (molded it with a TK twist barrel). Unfortunately, we found that the grooves of the barrel were far to shallow to produce what we wanted. So, essentially, it was a failure, but we learned that we can’t use TK barrels. So, of course, we shot it.

It was shot from a pistol barrel, and the objective of this test was to test for bullet deformation on impact. Note, the bullet was made of candle wax, and was reletively soft. When shot at a flesh target at 20 feet, from a 350 fps source, we found that the bullet did not deform. But this could have been caused by the lowered velocity, induced by the extremely tight fit of the bullet to the barrel, and the high friction nature of the wax. The bullet did, however deform when shot at a solid surface at point blank.

So we are modifying our plans, seeing that we can’t use a TK barrel as a source of our induced effect of rifling. We now plan on picking up a .22 (5.58mm) real steel barrel, and using the same process of molding outlined in the other thread. This will simply make the bullet bigger, and it will have negative rifle marks, rather than positive ‘fins’. These negative rifle marks will fit into the real rifles in the barrel, creating the same affect: spin.

Also, the bullet will have to be bigger, akin more to an 8mm bb.

So that’s where we are now. We will have to custom fit the RS barrel to my vsr, which I doubt will be fun.. but we’ll get it done. Please don’t bother me with your remarks about “you’ll have to make a magazine” or “you’ll have to do this… blah blah blah… to make the barrel work. We’ll deal with that, we just are concerned about how the bullet flies, and it’s performance downrange. We’ll figure out the logistics after we have the bullet designed.
